Event Details

Join Across the Table at the Green Grocer for an evening of delicious desserts prepared by Sweet Misgivings,  and champagne and wine provided by the Green Grocer.

This is definitely not a typical Across the Table dinner since we won't be having dinner but instead moving straight to dessert and hey, that's never a bad idea! But like other Across the Table gatherings we'll have a great conversation in a small groups in a beautiful place.

The topic of conversation will be: What makes a home a home? What does it take for you to feel at home in the space where you live or in the community where reside?

Sweet Miss Giving's Bakery and Gifting is a premier bakery and jobs program that offers rich, decadent baked goods while providing a new reason to feel good about sweet indulgences: over 50% of all profits go to help the formerly homeless and HIV/AIDS-affected men, women, and children of Chicago House.

Across the Table

Across the Table is a non-profit which breaks down race and socio-economic barriers by uniting Chicagoans to share meals and dynamic conversation in order to lead to an understanding and appreciation of participants’ differences and common experiences.

Across the Table’s participants enjoy dinners that take place throughout the city of Chicago at ethnically diverse restaurants, community organizations, businesses and cooking schools. Each dinner group is limited to ten people and includes a trained volunteer who will guide and facilitate the discussion. Each dinner will be focused around a specific topic for discussion, but expanding beyond the initial discussion topic is welcomed.
